Before you send

Before you send: check the details and the format.

A standard invoice needs, among other things, clear details of the issuer and the recipient, the issue date, an invoice number, the type and scope of the service, the date of service and the correct tax treatment. The exact requirements depend on your case.

You can find the official basis in § 14 UStG (German VAT Act). For invoices from small business owners, § 34a UStDV sets out special minimum details. The links go to “Gesetze im Internet” (the German federal law portal).

The free generator produces a printable invoice. A PDF saved this way is not a structured e-invoice. For XRechnung or ZUGFeRD, saved client data and tracking of open payments, you can try the Sumaro app separately. Inputs from this tool are not carried over automatically.
